OOn the Russian River in a SOAR Canoe! mmmmmmmLisa Alpine mmmmmmGail ~ the RiverGuidess
Spend a fun and leisurely day with the WaccoBB Conscious Community from Sonoma and Marin on the beautiful and secluded Healdsburg section, where the Russian River departs from the road.
SOAR canoes are comfortable, stable, and fun! Sit back, put your feet up on the tubes, and let the river's gentle current carry you downstream. Occasionally lay across the tubes while your paddling partner steers. Seek out and play on the rope swings that dot the river bank. The variety of birdlife we will encounter include egrets, heron, osprey, kingfisher, ducks and owls.
Logistics:
Meet at Russian River Adventures in Healdsburg at 9:30am sharp (click here for directions). We'll then drive to the take-out (end), where we'll leave our cars, then be shuttled back up to the put-in (beginning). We should be off the river by 5 or 6pm. Then stick around for an after-party in the redwood grove before heading on home.
Lisa Alpine is currently very excited about the Sculptural Dance movement she is exploring in the studio and outdoors in nature. She encourages dancers to see themselves as art -- as the sculpture -- not separate from it, by having them feel from the inside-out the shapes they are creating as they dance. This develops a refined aesthetic sense of beauty in the mover's awareness, not only of their own art-fullness but also of the constantly changing shapes around them, particularly while in nature.
Lisa at Burning Man
Lisa has been teaching dance as a healing art form for over 20 years at retreat centers around the world. She has worked with thousands of students in group and private workshop settings and is known for her intuitive ability in assisting people in opening up their bodies in order to free their expressive nature. She has studied directly with Gabrielle Roth, Emilie Conrad and other master teachers and shamans. Lisa is also a professional writer, with many of her dance workshops combining both art forms. She is the author of Exotic Life: Dancing Rivers, Laughing Drums and Tangled Hearts and is currently working on several new titles, including Journey Into Movement: Dancing Lessons From God. You may read more about her writing and dancing path at www.LisaAlpine.com
