mOn the Russian River in a SOAR Canoe! mmmmmm m mLiz Mac
mmm mm mGail ~ the RiverGuidess

Enter a timeless world as the river leaves the road, and we paddle down the beautiful and secluded Healdsburg-to-Forestville section of the Russian River, just about an hour north of the Golden Gate. Spend a glorious day in double inflatable canoes, joined by egrets, heron, osprey, kingfisher, ducks, owls, and a community that loves to dance, dance, dance!

Enjoy pre-river embodiment practices with Nia black-belt Liz Mac, and post-river dancing in a redwood grove, with DJ Mark Ameba, (aka Mark Metz, editor of Conscious Dancer Magazine) and special guest. BYO lunch & post-river picnic items to share!

Beginning paddlers and dancers are welcome. No special skills are necessary. We'll use double inflatable SOAR canoes, with all related gear & shuttles provided by Russian River Adventures.

SOAR canoes are comfortable, stable, and fun! Sit back, put your feet up on the tubes, and let the river's gentle current carry you downstream. Occasionally lay across the tubes while your paddling partner steers. Seek out and play on the rope swings that dot the river bank. The variety of birdlife we will encounter include egrets, heron, osprey, kingfisher, ducks and owls.

Logistics:

Arrival time is 9am sharp, so play it safe and give yourself an hour of travel time from Central San Rafael. We meet at the Wohler Bridge, where we'll leave our cars and be shuttled up to Russian River Adventures in Healdsburg to check-in and prepare for launch.

Before getting on the river, we'll drop deeply into our bodies with movement led by Liz Mac. Once on the river, we take a break for more movement and a potluck lunch part-way downstream. Expect to be off the river and back to your cars by the Wohler Bridge no later than 4:30pm. Bring your own lunch (pack a small cooler or put it in the dry bag supplied by RRA), and some healthy picnic items to share in the redwood grove at the end of the day.
Dance with DJ Mark Ameba until at least 6pm .... or until the river otters come home ~* ~* ~*

Optional: After our dance & picnic in the redwood grove, those who wish to continue the party can go on to Harbin Hot Springs, where Liz will lead a full Nia class at 8pm in the Temple! (Note: Harbin is about an hour NE of Healdsburg ...)
