Sing, dance, and play in community ... around the campfire and on the river !
Join us for a blending of voice and movement expressions, explorations and meditations, to drop more deeply into “the now,” and become fully present with yourself, with community, AND with the river! Enjoy secluded, spacious riverside camping. Novice rafters are welcome on this fun, beautiful Class III river in the Trinity Alps ... Landlubbers are welcome too, as there's plenty to do (or not do!) while others in the group are rafting on Saturday!
Click here for photos from the Trinity River, west of Redding and Weaverville in northern CA. Head out of town on Friday morning to enjoy an early arrival (any time after 3pm) and relax before dinner. We'll spend the weekend at a beautiful, secluded, spacious and wooded campsite along the north fork of the river. Plan on a full, fun day of rafting on Saturday, then to continue this playshop on Sunday at a lush, pristine swimming hole just down the road. We'll head home from there later in the afternoon. ABOUT JOANNE RAND: Both writing and singing “Anthems of Grassroots Power and Personal Transformation” inspired by wild characters, wild rivers and mountains, Joanne’s a longtime veteran of the west coast summer music festival scene (she just played to packed audiences on 2 stages at the Oregon Country Fair), and has eight exquisite CDs to her credit. She’s also been leading vocal workshops since 1991, incorporating songs and chants from indigenous cultures around the globe, as well as her own original songs and ones that groups spontaneously create together! Included are exercises in toning, breathing, listening and movement, with emphasis on spontaneity, group dynamics, and freeing up the voice. Evenings will be spent playing and enjoying music around the campfire, so bring your own drums and instruments along ...
ABOUT RANA STEWART : Dancer, teacher, bringer of joy and catalyst for play brings us “Embodying Nature”: A means to directly experience the connection between our bodies and the Earth through improvisational play. She blends her extensive training in dance, movement-based expressive arts therapy, and the art of life into her work to hold space for the infinite ecstatic mystery to unfold. Cost: $325 (early price of $295 extended until Friday, July 28th)
